For example the Lucas Oil Stop leak says it is safe for all power steering fluid. My 2004 Ford Taurus doesnt have its own power steering fluid. Instead it uses Mercon ATF. Are these power steering leak products safe for my car?

I personally have used lucas no slip on an 05 Voyager with a 170k tranny. It works, thing would slip while driving on the highway. Bad bad, wouldnt go back to correct gear, had to pull over and restart. Lucas fixed it everytime,mind you temporarily. But when all you can afford is bandaids, it works.

With that mileage, I would just fix the leak and put in a full synthetic. Flushing might make more leaks show up. You could do a 500 mile and a 1000 mile oil change then to get rid of the rest of the Lucas, but I havent had any terrible experiences with it. I wouldnt use it in a car that uses oil pressure for VVT or anything though.
